Revised return means the orginal return will be replaced and the revised return shall be reconsidered instead of original return.
If you have filed return before due date, and not sent ITR-V, the return shall become invalid. Subsequent return after due date shall not be revised return but it will be belated return. So to be able to validate revised return, ITR-V of the original return must be sent to CPC.
