Even i planned for IAS 4 months back...bought the syllabus guide etc...chose the subjects...got material etc..but had to change my plan..because something in my personal life happened instantly which restricts me from doing the job! Thus, there was no use preparing for Civils...
But, i did want to serve the society at large..Money doesn't fascinate me much...Thus, i started my coaching classes whereby i keep mentoring a large pool of students about various courses and the tactics to achieve the same in short time..
Thanx Sahil for such a nice post and to everybody for such a productive discussion..
One of my friend's friend left CA after 5 regular fail attempts and cracked IAS soon...n ya i do know 2-3 more people who have cleared IAS after clearing CA..
Thus, i advise the students to take this matter seriously...IAS after CA is yes of course a good option...But, only for those..who have the will to change the system! and for whom money doesn't matter...
All the best to those who start it..

@ Rahul..yes IAS possible after CA but IAS is difficult compare to CA as only 70 seats for general catagory while 5000 students Clears CA Final..even top minds from IIT,IIM ,SRCC,ST stephans also participate.
@ Sahil..its a misconception that CAs r very at maths..only some who clear with rank/ist attempt r only good..if u want to attempt IAS don't think u r CA or so..start from sctrach n give ur best short...

@ sahil: yes it is allowed but i guess eco. H and CA are two different feilds.
Economics is there only in cpt and not in IPCC and Final.
So is it advisable to opt for both?

problem is that a CA student can not opt for other subjects along with commerce at Mains stage...u r right that eco is there not there in CA , but u can do it along with CA rather than doing Bcom...
according to me doing BA Eco along with is gud for IAS.....bcom will not serve any purpose...BA will help u in IAS as well...
in fact i made a mistake by doin bcom...it's useless if u want to persue IAS after CA...
otherwise u can go for Public administration with commerce......
