Without dwelling on who got these awards, this whole business of granting award is flawed , if not politicised . There are many who work silently and serve society in their chosen field with a much larger impact. It is as though the celebrity status which attracts recognition rather than their real work. Now a days even the highest Civillian award ot Bharat Ratna is given so liberally without any criteria . At least this highest Civillian award needs to be sparingly given - may be once in say 20 years . After all you place such persons in the league of such illustrious gems of people like Gandhi. Bharat Ratna should not be awarded to all and sundry and so frequently. There are many other awards to be bestowed in their individual fields like Cinema, Art, Literature, Music. which should be an adequate recognition of their achievement.
