‘Helllo! Rajinder iSSpeaking!’ an elderly guy on the other side.
‘Hi this is Vikrant, from Mohali, Punjab.’

‘This is regarding..?’
‘A book on MICS.. for CA final year, authored by me.’

‘Ok! Please wait!’ ..your call has been put on hold, please, your call has been.. ‘Hello!!! Sudeep iSSpeaking!’ replied the publisher.
‘Hi Mr. Kumar! Vikrant here.’
‘Haai!! Vikkkranttt From?’
‘Mohali, Punjab!’
‘Ohk! Tell me! How can I help you?’
‘I have authored a Book and wish to get it published.’
‘Which book?’
‘MICS.’
‘IT (Information Technology)?’
‘Yeah! For CA students.’
‘Ok, and you are.. a CA? I guess..’
‘Amm.. Nope.’
‘..or may be IT professional?’
‘Nope.. I am a student.’
‘iSStudent of??’
‘CA Final Year.’
‘Aham!! Gooood!! so this one is for Foundation level or Inter?’
‘Nopp! Final year.. paper 6, group 2..’ I said fearing that he would disconnect thinking it to be a prank call.
..no reply..
‘Hello?’ I checked.
‘Yeah! so.. you have cleared your second group.. I guess?’
‘aaa..’ I tried to say.
He interrupted, ‘How much you got in MICS?’
‘Mmm..’ I tried again.
He added again, ‘..and why do you think students will read your book?’
‘I.. (pause).. haven’t.. (pause).. cleared any of my groups.’
‘Oh!’ he said and I thought now he’ll disconnect the call for sure.
‘Hello?’ I checked again.
‘Yeas Yeas! Carry on!’ he replied.
‘I.. (pause).. appeared.. (pause).. and..’
‘Hmm hmm! and??’
‘..and I failed.’
‘Group One?’
‘Nopp! Two.. (pause).. and..’
‘Hmm! and???’
‘..and I failed due to this paper..’
‘Whatttt??? MICS??’ he was on his toes.
‘Yupp! I got.. (pause).. 28.’
‘Whatt? 28 marks???’ he yelled as passing marks are 40.
‘Yup!!’
‘in MICS???’ he lowered his voice.
‘Wonderful!!!!!!.. (pause).. and you think students will read your book???’ voice bounced back.
‘Yapp!!’
‘Okay! Tell me why!’
‘Because I have cracked the ways to understand MICS,’ I was quick in replying, ‘and I have named it ‘MICS Unleashed’ the title.’
‘Vikrant Ji (Sir) we are not for taking chances.’
‘Sir!’ I said, ‘I got good marks in IT subject in CA Foundation and CA Inter.. (pause).. in finals.. I was expecting 82 approx.. (pause).. but got 28.’
.. silence.. I didn’t check if he disconnected or not.
‘Sir people fluke pass exams, I fluke failed.. and that too due to this subject, my favourite one.. hah..’
‘Haha.. hmm!’ he was still there..
I continued, ‘I don’t know what went wrong, but I know how to make it right.. (pause).. I have THE KEY that students want; to crack MICS.’
‘But.. Do you think students will prefer your book to other established authors?’ he was sceptical.
‘Yupp!! They’ll read it for the new things I have introduced.’
‘Like?’ he seemed bit interested.
‘Like Chapter Map, Double Trouble, Memorising links, Abbreviation Bank, simplest Graphs and figures.. and a bonus too.’
‘What Bonus?’ he was now curious.
‘I'll price it at Rs. 175 only.. so that any student should not think twice before buying it.. like they do.. for other costly CA books.’
‘Interesting!!!.. (pause).. but do you think I’ll publish it?’
‘Yupp!! Because you yourself are an IT Auditor.’
‘Ha ha..’
‘and your scanners are famous among CA students.’ (Scanner means compilation of exam questions of past 10 years).
‘Ha ha ha ha.. quite impressive.’
‘So when would you like to have a look at the sample chapters?’ I asked.
‘Ha ha ha ha ha ha.. young man!! Your confidence!! Ha ha.. send us in mail.’
‘Ssankyou Sir!!’
‘I’ll put you back to my assistant and he’ll guide you further.’
‘Sure Sir! Thanks again!’
‘Good luck!! Keep it up!!’
