If an educational institution being one of the IITs, conducts a seminar on a topic of advanced research and on that behalf, receives sponsorship money from corporates and collects registration fees from delegates, do they also have to collect GST on such amounts????

PS: The educational institution is providing education recognized by law, set up by an Act of parliament, exempt u/s 10(23c)(iiiad) of the Income Tax Act 1961, fully funded by Central Government and is also registered as a society.

Any service provided by an educational institution to students, faculty and staff is exempted. whether the people who attend the seminar are the students of such institution? If yes, then exempted. If No, then it is not covered in the exemption and becomes taxable.
