Got a govt. job but articleship still remaining

Hi Everyone,

I already cleared my CA inter(IPCC) and completed 2yrs 4 months of my articleship.

I'm very happy to say that I have cleared the written test conducted by the GIC Re for post of scale-I officer. They have sent me a call letter for group discussion/Personal Interview which is in the next month i.e August'13.

So I really desire to know if I crack the GD/PI section of the recruiting process and get selected for the job, what should I do coz my articleship is still not over, presicely 8 months still left and I don't want to leave CA course either because its my dream to become a chartered Accountant?

Honestly speaking there is no other option than dummy training. If you were regular for 2.4 years then you might have learned a lot.

I really appreciate and thank you for your valuable comments, but problems is when the interviewer will ask me about my articleship it won't be proper to say them I will take dummy.Since its a govt. company they will not take it to my preference.

Since you have just 8 months remaining in your training and GD /PI is next month that will leave you with around 6 months of training at that time. And since it is not usual that they give immediate joining,it wil take atleast 1 month to the date you will actually get your joining letter. That will leave you with around 2-3 months training on that. Also when you clear the GD/PI round you can request them to delay your joining date 1-2 months so that you can complete your articleship. And yes companies do allow you to defer your joining date by some months. I have seen people who have delayed their joining by 6 months so that they can complete their degree program or just to wait for the results of better organisation.

But this fact cannot be mentioned in the interview. For them you will have fully commit yourself to join as and when they require. Hope it helps.

The Government of India has got many departments for the smooth running of the country. Railways, Telephone services, Municipality Services, Administrative Services, Health Services, Legal Services, Public Sector Banks etc. are few of the important ones.Here we Govt jobs in India are extremely secure and stable jobs and preferred by most job seekers in India.

When need to join gov job one can terminate his/her article ship form there and start the job if he/she wants to secure job along with CA. And one is sure that he/she will qualify and want to do CA as dream and financially no issue then don't go for jobs at all. Other option is after joining JOB for 1-2 years apply for 6 mnths to 1 year leave without pay for further studies and finish article ship during that period then with JOB give CA exams though it will be very much touch.
