When the transaction is over, it is BEP .

So the additonal 1000 Rs paid to next shop will be the loss incurred by the shopkeeper.

Total loss is Rs 1000/- i.e 200 for goods & Rs. 800 for amount given to lady. 1000 Rs. is only exchange from other shop.

Rs.1000/- only

(First Shopkeepar has returned Rs.1000/- to Second ShopKeepar which he had get it from him only on exchange of Duplicate Note)

(The actual loss will be Rs.800/- given to lady + Rs.200/- worth of Goods i.e. Total Rs.1000/-)

Transaction wise Inflows & Outflows :

1) The Shop Keeper has bought the Goods worth Rs: 200 from Outside Market say : Rs: 200 (Outflows)

2) The Lady gave him Rs: 1000 (Inflow)

3) The Shop Keeper gave the Rs: 1000 note to Next Shopkeeper (Outflow)

4) The Shop Keeper Gets the Change from the Next Shop Keeper Rs: 1000 (Inflow)

5) The Shopkeeper returns back Rs: 800 to the Lady (Outflow)

6) The Shop Keeper again Returns back Rs: 1000 (on account of Duplicate 1000 note) to Next Shop keeper (Outflow)

Result of the Transaction :

-200+1000-1000+1000-800-1000  =  -1000 (Outflow)

So the LOSS incurred by the Shop Keeper is Rs: 1000 /-

Loss of Rs.1000/-

two ways to understand this:

first: gain by 1 party is loss by other party

so lady gained: 800/- real note and 200/- gold =1000/-

is loss of shopkeeper whereas third party niether gain nor loose

Secound:

loss to shopkepper = Gold of 200/- - 1000/- recd to third party +800 paid to lady   + 1000/-  paid to third party(just go by cashflows and goods movement in shopkeeper hands)

amount recd from lady rs-1000=00.

got change from next shop-1000=00.

total value of goods is- 200.

total amount is given to lady = 800+ value of goods is( 200) is total 1000=00,

he repaid to next sho Rs-1000=00(because of duplicate note)

so total Loss is -  lady 800+ 200(goods)+ next shop (1000) is total is -2000=00

Total Loss of Rs.1800.

Rs.1000 (Real currency) returned to Shopkeeper. + Rs.800 (Real Currency)  returned to Lady.

Goods sold 0f Rs.200 and Rs.200 received from shopkeeper.Hence effect of goods sold is nil.

Correct Answer is Rs.2000/- (200+800+1000)

Because first shopkeeper has loosed value Rs.200 of goods + 800 return to leady and 1000 given to another shopkeeper. He has exchanged same value of currency but finally he got fake note of Rs.1000/- of nil value.

I am confident.
