Correct ans is INR 1200  ( INR 800 paid to the lady was not his money so his loss is only INR 1000 cash paid to neighbour + 200 worth of goods taken by the lady)

You all are Just Calculating How Much the Shopkeeper has Paid. Is that the way to Account for Loss???

Do You People Just Check the Debit side of "Profit & Loss A/c" to Calculate Loss. Shouldn't you consider Credit Side also???

Shopkeeper:

ADD:

 800/- - Paid to Lady

 200/- - Goods given Worth

1000/- - Paid to Other Shopkeeper

2000/- - Total

Less:

1000/- RECEIVED from Other Shopkeeper as a CHANGE of Rs.1000/- Note

1000/- Total

Therefore Total Loss Rs. 1000/- Only

Loss in cash = Money returned to the lady i.e Rs.800/-

Loss in kind = Article sold to the lady i.e worth Rs. 200/-

Therefore, Total loss to the shopkeeper = Rs. 1000/-

answer is very simple.....The Shopkeeper total loss is Rs. 1800/-, because shopkeeper got Rs. 200 against goods sold so there is no loss..... he got a loss of Rs. 800 which he had paid to lady and Rs. 1000 which he need to pay another shopkeeper against that fake note.....so his total loss is Rs. 1,800/-.

If this answer is not correct please rectify....

The Qiz Go's this way..

A Lady buys goods of Rs.200 & Pays a Rs.1000 note to shopkeeper , he gets the change from the Next shop & & keeps Rs.200 for himself  & Returns Rs.800 to the lady ..

After some time, The next shop owner Returns the Rs.1000 note Saying that its " Duplicate" & Takes the money Back ..

Now the Question is How much Loss did the shpokeeper Suffer ?

Rs 800/- + cost of goods sold.

The shopkeeper Receives                                                Rs 1000 (from Lady)

He given to the other shopkeeper                                  Rs -1000

He receive change worth Rs 1000                                  Rs +1000

He gave to lady                                                                   Rs -800

other shopkeeper return fake note of Rs 1000            Rs 0 (It worth zero only)

he gave Rs 1000 to other shopkeeper                          Rs 1000

Cash Loss                                                                     Rs 800/-

and Cost of goods sold for Rs 200/-.

Loss is Rs.1000--Rs.800 paid in cash to the lady & goods of Rs.200 given to the lady

(imagine the same case if change was available with the shopkeeper. What would the loss be then?- solves any doubt)

Its 2000!

1. Rs. 200 worth of goods sold to the lady;

2. Rs. 800 change returned to the lady

3. Rs. 1000 to be given to the next shopkeeper, since it is a fake note!

"Aur Jo Change 1000/- Uss Shopkeeper ne Dusre Shopkeeper se liye the wo Tu Bhool Gaya. Wo Dusra Shopkeeper 1000/- Kyu Mangta hai isliye na Qki Usne Pehle 1000/- diye the.

Usko Kyu Bhool Gaya Tu...."

Tu CA FINAL mein Kaise aa gaya yaar!!! :P
