I am not sure what you mean by 'Stipend issue'? is there really an issue??
In case you are refering to low scale pay, then my friend you should know that internship is not about earning money but about gaining knowledge.
Stipend should be the last thing on ur mind while ur a CA student!!!
Pl reply and tell me as to what u want to express clearly...

one should keep in mind that the pay a student gets as a reward to the work done which earns more than 75% of bugs to a CA should be quiet enough to meet his/her Bus Pass atleast. Is that not right?

Krishna,
I think the minimum stipend to be paid per ICAI rules is enough to cover a student's 'Bus Pass', don't you think? And if the student needs to be rewarded, then there are other ways the employer can do so... and not necessarily through the stipend.
I, personally don't see a 'Stipend Issue' in all this!!!!
You are yourself an articled student and should know better that all the audit related expenses are always reimbursed. So where is the monetary issue here??????
Besides, stipend is not be treated and compared to a salary, i.e. a monetary reward. STIPEND PAID IS NOT SO LOW. And its obvious that an employer will definitely give an increment to his staff periodically.
Is that not right????

I dont agree with u all...Council has to take stipend matter seriously.... institute is minting money from CA Students for PCC or IPCC registration Fee is nearly 8500/-. ... CA's dont increase the stipends....what about all course fees and all....in the current scenario what is cost of living once think...and u people are just fighting on bus pass... what about people like we who are poor.... till now CA course was low but now its costly....dont say its an investment for future but look whether people who have desire but has no money to invest.....

i also think that institute should consider the issue for raising the stipend as early as possible while taking care of the rate of inflation in todays scenario.

Stipend must be an issue. CA's earn lot of money by the hard labour of articled students but the great lobby of CA's is not interested to raise the stipnd. Even CWA articles get much better than us.ICAI boasts we R the best but in which sense i dont know.
