Dear Friends.....I have a problem related to Excel...I have a spread sheet in which in  a particular data field (column) same data items are coming 2, 3....etc times.

Now my requirement is that in a separate column in same sheet with the help of formula I can find out frequency of data items in data array. That is required against each row of the data field.

My problem won't serve with the help filter or sutotal command.

Please suggest a solution promptly

Thanks

Please send a copy of the excel sheet to my email id. i will get ur problem solved . in any case if ur data is in rows, and say in column "C" , then the problem of seeing how many times the specifed data in rows is appearing is like this ,

Sort the field on Column C.

Then in column D (assumed blank ) put the following formulla after the header row

I.E.    IN ROW 2 COLUMN D

=if(c2 = c1 , d1+1,1)

u just copy the fomulla to all the rows below whichhave data. It will count the no of repetitive data.

how to convert number to word in excel

(Guest)

using microsoft excel 2003

Im trying to drag a formula down and I only need two one of the refrence cells to change, the other two to stay the same.  here is an example of what Im doing.

=SUM(AB8/AA2*AC2)

The only thing that needs to change when I drag the formula down is AB8 (should continue counting as I pull the formula down to AB9, AB10, etc).  I need AA2*AC2 to stay just as it is.....

how would I do this??

you're expertise would be greatly appreciated!

Just  put '$' in each ref which u dont want to change

=sum(AB8/$AA$2*$AC$2)

Putting dollar before the reference will stop it from changing. In case u put $ before AA and not before 2 then the rows will keep on changing .

We CAs are very poor in powerpoint skills and excel charting .
I know a lot people know a great deal about excel , but still I can add a little and also learn a lot from other guys.
As for example i have just a simple formulla to calculate weekly shares closing prices. Thou knowledge of Excel macros is good , but i prefer to use excel formullas as it easier to understand and faster to work with .
