Hi everyone. I know a person who cleared both of his CA grps in one attempt bt he is not able to get a job. He was a DUMMY in his articleship period. What are your views? Can a dummy CA get a good job?

I am a B.Com graduate and working in C.A firms for the last 18 years. Not a qualified. I seen in my life some such qualified's who are afraid of visiting Sales Tax office for assessment of their clients, because they have not practically done it during the course of articleship as they were dummies.

A dummy is one who register for articleship but actually not attanding the principal's office for pratical training either paying a sum to principal or using some influence through some contacts. Such people after becoming CA do't know even basic thing of audit that is "vouching". Such people only dream of packages but fails after getting appointment letter's.

Officially dummy is not good but if dummy articles opts for industrial training in the last year of his articleship then he can learn a lot than those who are doing articles in small firms, if he wants to make his career in industry but he cannot do practise.
Getting job or not, its a different matter. But I have also seen few dummy articles who are getter better pay and having at good posts in good companies. At last what is required is understanding the CA Syllabus in practical manner and should excel in your area of interest.
As per the Code of Conduct it is not good.

Rajesh, your definition is good. Sushil i am doing articleship in a small firm. I know i havent got exposure to a great extent. Why should i be the victim of this discrimination? Every CA dont get same type of exposure in their articleship period? Even after 3.5 years proper training!!!!!!! Many students pass CA from hinterland of India. They dont get proper training bt they pass due to their hard labour. Ultimately those CAs lack corporate skill compare to urbun CAs. Dont u guys think ICAI should stand a step for uniformity of articleship?

Hi Ashish!
I am afraid but my views are a bit different.
the first objective of articleship is that the student should get the exposure to the practical world. How to deal with outsiders and how to apply what we have studied. it can be at a basic level or at an advanced level. So if you are doing your articleship properly in any firm, you are fulfilling the basic objective.
If we wish to gain more exposure at an advanced level, we are free to choose a bigger sized firm even from the big four. We get the apointment on our personal skills in any firm.
There are many students who wish to join a smaller firm because of the work load and other factors they are afraid of.
So its basically up to us , as to how we want to do our articleship.

Students dont know even what's a CA firm n how it works after passing CPT. I had no any "jan-pahchan". I went to big firms too bt CA directly asked me about reference. Some firms reply was your English is not good. I was a Hindi medium guy. How can my English too good as per expectation of him? Yarrr.. English is the thing of improvement. What was my fault? I passed pcc in 2 attempts. U all guys know that transfer is little bit difficult. Think about those who live in Patna or Banaras. I was topper in my college( Bsc-physics) n articleship starting ka sal Xerox karane me bita.

Hi!
Until n unless u do articleship from a renowned firm,it does not matter if u are a dummy or not.
Normally article student of less renowned firms are paid clerks in the hands of selfish Boss who treat them as servants. My friend has the experience.

1. From my experience I will recommend for articleship in small firms, because you will get chance of doing A to Z of a clients work. As most of the small firms have small and medium size clients, and majority of the business comes under this category, this will be beneficial in post qualification carrier also.
2. In Big firms, you will only get a small part of audit work, and points you noted should always be passed to your senior. It is his discreation whether he wants to forwards then to his seniors or not. This is like some blind persons approaching a elephant. One blind touches feet, one in his body etc etc.
3. As number Big and MNC firms are very small, all article's in our country can't get working experience there.

Hi Avinav
I dont know about your 'friend' but you should get your facts corrected. There is a HUGE difference between a dummy and a proper trained article. There are persons of different attutude, some bosses may be selfish but there are articles who also dont want to work. so it differs from person to person and you cant decide on the views of one or two people.
For Ashish
I know, learning english wpuld take time but u should see the employer's perspective as well. He is not working to give you training. He will hire the person best suitable to him and its your duty to raise your own standards upto your expectations from others.

That's why i am telling na uniformity should be in training. Nikhil we are here for learning. You all know that we are articles not employees. This is the duty of a CA to hon our skill. I think 95% CAs dont give time to their articles. They want only earn money in legal or illegal ways.

clearing exams is the most important task!!!
learning is a continuous exercise
you can learn even after clearing exams about practical aspects!
i dont know why people are averse to learn anything after clearing exams.
many people criticise dummy students a lot
but i dont have any problem with dummy candidates
the knowledge of some of my friends with dummy articles is better than mine
it depends on person
but according to our institute articleship is essential , so am doing it
but i dont feel future will be difficult for students with dummy articles
