A friend is one who cares for you

No matter how rich or poor you may be,

It is your heart that counts you see,

A good friend will understand thee.

Sorrows and joys alike to share,

When you’re in danger his life to spare,

When you are happy he is also glad,

When you are in trouble he is sad.

A friend like this cannot be sold,

Neither for money, silver or gold,

The value of him is of the price untold

For gold is lifeless it cannot hear or see,

For a friend can do all this to me.

A friend like this is rare to find,

If you have a friend like this,

Have him so and be a friend of his.
