15 March 2010 The primary underwriter in debt and equity deals. The book runner works with other firms who will also take part in the deal, allowing for the sharing of risks. For example, a large leveraged buyout might involve several companies, with one company that is responsible for "running" or handling the books.

An investment bank, brokerage, or bank which participates in a syndicate. And Syndicate means A group of investors who act together when investing in a company.

Appraisal means a professional opinion, usually written, of the market value of a property, such as a home, business, or other asset whose market price is not easily determined. Usually required when a property is sold, taxed, insured, or financed.

Market Maker means a brokerage or bank that maintains a firm bid and ask price in a given security by standing ready, willing, and able to buy or sell at publicly quoted prices (called making a market). These firms display bid and offer prices for specific numbers of specific securities, and if these prices are met, they will immediately buy for or sell from their own accounts. Market makers are very important for maintaining liquidity and efficiency for the particular securities that they make markets in. At most firms, there is a strict separation of the market-making side and the brokerage side, since otherwise there might be an incentive for brokers to recommend securities simply because the firm makes a market in that security.

Promoter Company means the company which takes active steps in the formation, organization, or financing of a corporation or on whose behest a company is incorporated to pursue certain objects.
