On February 17, 2024, Paula Andrea Bongino, Dan Bongino’s wife, was in a car accident in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Her SUV skidded on black ice and hit a utility pole. She was treated for a mild concussion and a fractured wrist.
On September 4, 2024, Paula was injured during a boating trip near Ocean City, Maryland, when their motorboat struck a submerged object. She suffered a dislocated shoulder and bruises after falling into the water. The U.S. Coast Guard assisted, and Paula received medical care shortly after.

Bongino served as a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer from 1995 to 1999. He then joined the U.S. Secret Service in 1999, where he worked until 2011.
During his tenure, he was assigned to the Presidential Protection Division for both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Bongino ran for Congress three times as a Republican, losing each race. He also ran for the U.S. Senate from Maryland in 2012.
