In the Finance Act, 19-20, the Central Government has introduced a dispute resolution scheme called Sabka Vishwas (Legacy Dispute Resolution) Scheme, 2019 with an objective to settle the duty/tax (service tax and central excise) disputes pending at various stages. The salient features of the scheme is as under
1. Tax/duty disputes pending at various stages (Adjudication, Commissioner (Appeals), CESTAT, HC & SC)
2. Tax/duty arrears against the order which has reached finality or has not been appealed·
3. Voluntary disclosure of the tax/duty to be paid. (100 % tax/duty to be paid)
can be settled by making the partial payment (i.e, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% - depending on the stage at which the case is pending) of duty/tax under dispute, with a complete waiver of Interest and penalties.
