The law relating to sale of goods was originally contained in chapter VII of the Indian Contract Act. It was repealed by the separate enactment namely ‘Sale of Goods Act, 1930’. As the provisions of section 76 to 123 of the Indian Contract Act were found to be inadequate to meet with rapid mercantile transactions the present ‘Sale of Goods Act, 1930’ took its birth.
