I am undergoing practical training as an article trainee at Deloitte Haskins and Sells, Ahmedabad since December, 2006.
From the period December, 2006 to May, 2008, I was in the AERS (Assurance and Enterprise Risk Services) Wing. During this period I acquired technical skills in the field of audit. I got a chance to audit the books of accounts of leading companies and entities operating in various industry segments like Microfinance, Infrastructure, Manufacturing (Pharmaceuticals, Glass, Starch, Pigments), Oil and Gas Exploration, Education, Disaster Management.
I was transferred to the FA (Financial Advisory) Wing from June, 2008. As a trainee in FA, I have worked on engagements wherein we provided management consultancy services, re-engineered a clients business processes, consolidated the accounts for a client, gave advisory to a client planning an Initial Public Offering. I have acquired administrative skills from handling work of phoning important clients. I have researched on the procedures related to setting up SEZs in India and studied the SEZ Act, 2005 which governs SEZs in India.
I have been a part of the business development team which pitches prospective clients after carrying out proper study regarding their financial performance and analysing their needs.
I was a part of the team that conducted research on SMEs in Gujarat. As a part of this team, I collected data from CMIE’s Prowess software regarding the financial performance of SMEs operating in Gujarat in segments such as Iron and Steel, Diamonds, Ship Breaking, Pharmaceuticals etc. and studied the data in a Du Pont analytical framework. The report made by our team was released at a convention for SMEs held jointly by CII and Deloitte in Ahmedabad.
