The Income Tax department's Investigation Wing from Mumbai on Wednesday conducted searches on some prominent Bollywood producers. According to sources from the agency, the searches were carried out on production company Pen studios promoters Jayantilal Gada's offices and residence.
Another producer whose office and residence was searched was Vinod Bhanushali. Bhanushali was earlier associated with one of the top music and production companies in the country. He launched his own production house some time back.
Income Tax officials started the search early in the morning and the searches went on till late evening at all the premises. Sources said that the producers and their companies came under the scanner of the taxation agency for suspected tax evasion.
Gada and his production house are said to be associated with the production or presentation of multiple big banner films and also have rights for some epic mythological series. His company Pen Studios was presenter for the film RRR, co produced Gangubai Kathiawadi and various other films.
Bhanushali is said to have produced two films under his banner Bhanushali Films which include Janhit Mein Jaari and Atal.
Sources said some more production houses are under scanner of the agency.
