Sub: List of recognized Senior Secondary (10+2) Examinations
As per the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988 a candidate shall be registered for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) if he has passed class 10th examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto. Further, no candidate shall be admitted to the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) unless he is registered with the Board of Studies of the Institute and has appeared in the senior secondary examination (10+2) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto and has complied with such requirements as may be specified by the Council from time to time. However, enrolment for Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) shall be made if a candidate has passed the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and also senior secondary (10+2) examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.
Candidates are, therefore, advised to ensure that before appearing for the CPT examination they fulfill the eligibility requirements laid down under the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988 of having appeared in the senior secondary (10+2) examination or an examination treated as equivalent thereto. A list of examinations treated as equivalent to senior secondary (10+2) examination is given below for information.

35. 5 (Five) passes at GCE ‘O’ level/GCSE/IGCSE in A/B/C Grades and two passes at GCE ‘Advanced’ level examination of the approved British Examining Bodies is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to +2 stage qualification of an Indian Body.
36. 10+2 Examination of any other recognized Board/University not covered above but recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to Senior Secondary (10+2) Examination as recognized by Central Government. The admission of the candidates who appear in the CPT examination without having appeared in the senior secondary (10+2) examination shall not be treated as valid admission and the result of CPT examination in respect of such candidates shall be liable to be cancelled.
