The profession of Chartered Accountancy stands upon the tradition of excellence, integrity and independence. Today, a Chartered Accountant has metamorphosed into a multi dimensional professional, offering complete business solutions. Over the last six decades, Chartered Accountants have set a very high standard of accountability in the professional context. The CA fraternity has contributed significantly to the economic development of India and has been responsible Partner in Nation Building. The Chartered Accountants have performed exceedingly well in various fields and the Indian industry has placed substantial faith in their ability to deliver. This has made the Indian Accountancy Profession as Valued trustee of world-class financial competencies, good governance and competitiveness.
To honor this exemplary work of Chartered Accountants, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India had instituted “ICAI Awards” for the first time in the year 2008 and based on that awards for the year 2007-08 were decided and awardees were honored in January 2008. This activity will be held for the 2nd time in year 2009. The “ICAI Awards 2008” will be held on January 25th, 2009 at Goregaon Sports Club in Mumbai. These awards will recognize the achievements of CAs in profession, personal life and in community service. There will be 20 awards given under 3 categories.
1. CA Business Achiever
This category is for CEO/Directors / or individuals holding equivalent positions in the following sub categories.
* Financial Services
* Corporate
* SME
* Others
2. CFO
This category is for professionals in senior management capacities. This included positions such as CFO’s, Business Vertical Heads, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Treasury Officer and such other equivalent positions.
3. CA Professional Achiever.
This category is for managers who have achieved excellence in their careers and are not covered in the categories stated above and is intended to honor the achievements of CAs in the early or middle path of their careers.
Each of the outstanding CFO and CA Professional Achiever award will be given separately in various sub categories like manufacturing, financial sector, service sector, information technology, media, communication and entertainment, infrastructure and construction, public sector, woman (this is an additional category for woman open for all the sectors given above. A woman CFO/ Professional Achiever can also apply/be considered for various sub categories).
