In a major operation to curb Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion, officials carried out extensive raids at 52 locations spanning seven districts within the state. On Monday, the state division issued a statement, revealing that these intensive inspections had uncovered a significant evasion amounting to Rs 8.1 crore.
The operation targeted a diverse range of businesses operating within Gujarat, including those in the ceramics, scrap, mobile phone, cosmetic items, snacks, hotel, and restaurant sectors. Furthermore, tour operators, coaching classes, and printing services were also under scrutiny as part of this crackdown.
The sweep of these raids extended across several cities and districts, including Surat, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Mehsana, and Dangs. The GST department discovered that the majority of the non-compliant entities were business-to-consumer firms that had conducted sales or offered services without generating proper bills.
This enforcement action underscores the government's commitment to enforcing tax compliance and ensuring that businesses contribute their fair share to the GST revenue. The authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to combat tax evasion and uphold the integrity of the GST system.
