Taxpayers keen on leveraging this new payment avenue are advised to opt for the E-payment option on the GST portal. Upon selecting this option, a dedicated section for Credit/Debit Card payments awaits users. To initiate the transaction, taxpayers need to follow a simple step-by-step process:

  1. Choose the E-payment option.

  3. Proceed to choose the preferred bank for the transaction.
  4. Accept the terms and conditions by ticking the agreement box.
  5. Click on the “Make Payment” button to finalize the transaction.

Transaction Charges and Considerations

While the introduction of Credit and Debit Card payments offers added convenience, taxpayers are urged to review the associated transaction charges diligently. This is particularly crucial when opting for Credit Cards, Debit Cards, or Bhim UPI sub-payment modes.

Applicable States and Card Types

The newfound payment flexibility is extended to taxpayers in the following states: Assam, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Tripura. Presently, payments can be made using Credit/Debit cards powered by Rupay, MasterCard, Visa, and Diners, facilitated via Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Conclusion

The integration of Credit and Debit Card payment options into the GST portal marks a significant stride towards enhancing user experience and promoting digital transactions. By expanding the accessibility of payment avenues and streamlining the payment process, the GSTN aims to foster a more efficient and taxpayer-friendly ecosystem. As taxpayers embrace these new features, adherence to transaction guidelines and scrutiny of associated charges remain paramount for a seamless and hassle-free experience.
