GST collections for January 2025 soared to ₹1.96 lakh crore, marking a robust 12.3% year-on-year increase from ₹1.74 lakh crore in January 2024. This growth was fueled by a strong 10% rise in domestic GST revenues and a significant 19.8% surge in import-related collections.
Key contributors to this growth include Maharashtra (14% growth), Tamil Nadu (20%), and Ladakh (39%). Notably, sectors like manufacturing and services have shown strong compliance, boosting revenue. GST refunds also saw an uptick, rising 23.9% to ₹23,853 crore, reflecting efficient processing.
This upward trajectory underscores India's economic resilience, robust tax compliance and improved administrative efficiency.
