Corporate Affairs Committee meeting held
Secretary, Corporate Affairs held the meeting of the Committee constituted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for administration of Investor Education and Protection Fund on March, 03, 2010. Representatives from SEBI, RBI, NSE, Investor Activists, Professionals etc. attended the meeting.
The Committee noted that with the use of innovative methods and giving greater thrust to the investor awareness programmes, the Ministry will be exceeding the allocated budget of Rs.5.00 crore for the first time. The efforts made by the three Professional Institutes – Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India - for taking message of investor education awareness through their country wide programme and the investor awareness content, available in simple form, published by the Institutes, was also appreciated. It was decided that the Institutes will conduct at least 300 such investor awareness camps throughout the country in the next financial year.
It was also decided that the audio visual media will also be used for investor education related advertisements campaign in the coming few days. While approving the proposals from 14 NGOs working in the investor awareness field, the Committee recommended that the Ministry should get the budgetary allocation for investor awareness initiatives doubled to Rs.10.00 crore in the next financial year.
