CBI arrests Asst commissioner GST in an alleged bribery case



The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Assistant Commissioner, Goods & Service Tax, Government of Delhi and a private person in an alleged bribery case of Rs.Six Lakh.

CBI had registered the case against the accused and others U/s 7, 7(A), 8, 9, 10 and 12 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. It was alleged that a survey cum seizure operation had been conducted by GST Department against a private firm based at Karol Bagh, New Delhi. The accused public servant allegedly sought illegal gratification from the Karol Bagh based firm/company through the said private person in lieu of help in this case. CBI caught both the accused while transacting Rs.Six Lakh as illegal gratification.

Searches were conducted at various locations in Delhi & NCR wherein incriminating documents and cash of Rs.2.75 Lakh(approx) from the residential premises of Assistant Commissioner and Rs.20 Lakh(approx) from the residential premises of private person, were recovered.

Both the arrested accused are being produced before the Special Judge, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi.
