The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested nine Income Tax (I-T) officers in Maharashtra's Nagpur for allegedly joining the department without appearing for the mandatory examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission.
The anti-corruption branch of the CBI arrested the nine accused officers on Monday.
An offence was registered in 2018 after it came to light that some employees and officers had joined the I-T department without appearing for the Staff Selection Commission examination.
A probe was initiated, after which the central agency identified these officials and apprehended them.
The arrested officials were identified as Rinki Yadav, Anil Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Abhay Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, and Manish Kumar.
The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
