CBDT Orders Opening of Income Tax Offices on March 29-31, 2024 for Pending Work Clearance

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued an order on March 18, 2024, mandating the opening of all Income Tax Offices across India on March 29, 30, and 31, 2024. This directive aims to expedite the completion of pending tasks and ensure efficient tax administration as the financial year-end approaches.

The Financial Year 2023-24 closes on March 31, 2024, which is Sunday. Further, March 30, 2024 is a Saturday and March 29, 2024 is a closed holiday.

Therefore, to facilitate the completion of pending departmental work, all the Income Tax Offices throughout India shall remain open on March 29, 30, and 31, 2024. This direction is issued for administrative convenience by the Central Board of Direct Taxes in exercise of powers conferred under section 119 of the Income-tax Act, 1961.
