The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has contributed approximately Rs 400 crore in taxes to the government over the past five years, according to Trust Secretary Champat Rai. The payments were made between February 5, 2020, and February 5, 2025, reflecting the financial scale of the historic Ram Mandir project in Ayodhya.

Breakdown of Tax Contributions

Of the total tax amount, Rs 270 crore was paid as Goods and Services Tax (GST), while Rs 130 crore was contributed under other tax categories. This substantial tax outflow underscores the economic activity generated by the temple's construction and the surge in tourism in Ayodhya.

Rising Footfall and Economic Impact

Rai highlighted the exponential rise in devotees and tourists visiting Ayodhya, resulting in increased employment opportunities for local residents. During the Maha Kumbh, the city welcomed 1.26 crore devotees. In the past year alone, Ayodhya recorded a staggering 16 crore visitors, including 5 crore who specifically visited the Ram temple.

Formation of the Trust and Mandir Consecration

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was established in 2020 following the Supreme Court's landmark verdict in 2019, which paved the way for the construction of the Ram Mandir. The temple's consecration (Pran Pratishtha) took place on January 22, 2024, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the sacred rituals. The event was attended by religious leaders, political dignitaries, and devotees from across India.

Transparency in Financial Management

Rai assured that the trust’s financial transactions are regularly audited by officials from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), ensuring accountability and transparency in the management of funds.

Ayodhya's Growing Prominence

The Ram Mandir has emerged as a major religious and cultural landmark, significantly boosting Ayodhya's tourism sector. The temple's growing prominence is expected to further enhance economic prospects for the region, solidifying its status as a spiritual and economic hub.

With millions of devotees continuing to visit the temple, Ayodhya is poised for sustained growth, benefiting both religious tourism and local businesses.
