Express News Service Ahmedabad, August 7: ATLEAST 60 students who appeared for the Common Proficiency Test — the first level of examinations for the Chartered Accountancy course— protested on Tuesday against the decision of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India to cancel and re-schedule the exams. The ICAI fixed the date on August 26 after a paper leak was exposed during a sting TV operation. Protesting outside the ICAI’s Ahmedabad branch office, students held up placards with slogans like ‘What’s our mistake?’ and ‘Why should we re-appear for the exams when it is your fault?’ Sahil Dalal who appeared for the CPT said he cannot sit for exams again. He said, “It was during the break between two papers that we got to know about the leak. At that point of time, we were told the exam we take will be valid, but later they cancelled the exams. Now that the new dates have been fixed, preparing for the exams again will be a cumbersome process.” Hurshit Shah, another student said, “The authorities could have postponed the exam when they came to know of the leak but they didn’t. Now, re-appearing for the exam means that we will have to prepare all over again.” He added, “Chapters in Mathematics are really tough. How do we prepare the subject again?” “We are not ready to go through the same kind of stress again which we faced in the exams,” pointed out another student Saba Sheikh.
