Shark Tank Update

Copa Di Vino was acquired by Splash Beverage Group for $65 million in 2021. It happens to be the third most successful product that was rejected by the Sharks, joining the likes of Swimply.

As of 2024, Copa Di Vino continues to thrive and expand. Available in major retail outlets like Walmart, Kroger, and 7-Eleven, as well as in hotels and restaurants.

The founder of Copa Di Vino is James Martin. He is a serial entrepreneur who has started and sold several businesses.

Martin came up with the idea for Copa Di Vino in 2009 after he was frustrated with the inconvenience of opening bottles of wine.

Martin initially poured $800k into launching Copa Di Vino. When Splash Beverage Group took over the company, he held a 41% equity stake.

From this acquisition, Martin garnered a substantial $26 million. His first purchase with his wealth was a Lamborghini Urus that cost him $245,000.

Pitch to Investors

Only Kevin O’Leary showed interest, proposing $600,000 for 51% ownership of the intellectual property. Martin, however, believed his entire business was worth more. Consequently, the two couldn’t come to an agreement.
