Position Summary:
We seek a committed, responsible, energetic, and professional individual to serve as the Director/Manager of Finance and Grants Administration. This position will be responsible for Shakti’s finance, accounting, and contract and grants functions. The director/manager will prepare and monitor grant and organization budgets and provide accurate and useful reporting to executive management, Board of Directors, and funders. The diligence and integrity of the individual holding this position will be vital the fiscal health and welfare of the organization. The position will take strategic direction, particularly on the budget, from the Chief Executive Officer and work closely with the Director of Operations.

Primary Responsibilities:
Includes the following and other duties as assigned.
• Serve as the authoritative financial expert for the organization, overseeing the annual audit, tax reporting, and ensuring compliance with all reporting entities.
• Oversee all financial reporting activities, providing timely, accurate, and actionable information to executive management, Board of Directors, and funders.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of accounting, payroll, contracts and grants administration.
• Develop and maintain accounting, grants administration and related systems and internal controls, using technology wherever possible to streamline operations.
• Oversee all grant and gift accounting including determination when commitments are made, when restrictions are released, and appropriate discount rates for multi-year transactions.
• Prepare and monitor grant budgets and organization budgets, update forecasts and cash projections.
• Manage cash, set appropriate reserve levels, and optimize cash flow requirements.
• Develop and update policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls, identify risk areas and mitigate.
• Review large professional service contracts for terms and conditions. Monitor and approve progress payments against contracts.
• Perform monthly bank and accounting system reconciliation
• Creating and enforcing grant activity timelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting or related field: Chartered Accountant or MBA preferred
• Minimum eight years of related experience, at least two years of direct not-for-profit financial management experience would be preferable
• Experience in pre and post-grant management
• Thorough knowledge of accounting system implementation, legal guidelines and audits and tax returns
• Superior Excel and financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting and projections skills

Compensation and Benefits:
The position will be located in New Delhi, currently in Saket, but relocating to Munirka in mid-2010. The working conditions include working with dynamic, enthusiastic and engaged colleagues in an open and collaborative environment. We offer a competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
