Ministry of corporate affairs , the regulators of corporate entities in India has mandated filing of financial returns in XBRL format except banking, insurance, NBFCs and power sector companies. Which companies r required to file their annual returns in XBRL format? Where can one find this format?

Phase 1:-
The following class of companies have to file the Financial Statements (of FY 2010-2011 and onward) in "XBRL Form only" :-
(i) All companies listed in India and their subsidiaries, including overseas subsidiaries;
(ii) All companies having a paid up capital of Rs. 5 Crore and above or a Turnover of Rs 100 crore or above.

You can download a education mode software free of cost at sinewave ( taxbase) website. It allow you to create only one assessee and software is linked directly with MCA Validation tools.

There is a free software for creating XBRL files and editing existing XBRL files. You can try it out from here: https://www.SaltLakeSoft.com/xbrl , Be sure to validate using MCA 's validation tool after editing your XBRL file.
