i had paid my self assessement taX THROUGH ONLINE PAYMENT ,(icici bank)
WHILE MAKING THE PAYMENT I WRONGLY MENTIONED THE ASSESSEMENT YEAR & PAID THE TAX.
KINDLY GIVE A SOLUTION.REGARDING THIS.

i also made the same mistake once...........i have heard that the amount goes credited to a suspense account............u can get the credit thru having discussion with the dept. ..........

Don't worry. Approach the Assessing Officer and request him to appropriate the wrongly paid tax, which results refund in that year, against the demand for the year in which actually the demand is due invoking the provisions of section 245.
