In the second question [2(a)] of PE-2 Income Tax paper they did not mention what to find out or calculate or to explain. pls clear if my understanding is wrong.

Yes. Therefore i think they should give marks to the students who attempted that question.
The question would have either been to find the taxable income or the computation of tax liability or both.
