Please Read this one... November 2016 CA final result: A deep dive . Call it a result of the demonetization or simply turning off the tap by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the CA final examination results touched a low in the November 2016 attempt. Yes, you are reading it right, it touched a low. By a quick glance of the CA Final result this time, one would think that the result of this attempt was at par with that of previous attempt, which in fact, it was not. . Most of you may not have noticed the change in ICAI’s method of calculating the passing percentage. Every time prior to this attempt, results had been declared in similar fashion/way. However, this time round result was showcased differently by the Institute. Though it doesn’t create much of a difference in theory, practically it changes the whole dynamics. . One can see the huge difference between passing percentage of November 2016 and May 2016 (please refer table B and C). The result has almost dropped to 1/3rd of the previous attempt. As per the above statistics, students who appeared in May 2016, are seem to be 300% more intelligent than the students who appeared in November 2016, which intuitively doesn’t seem right. . One of the former Presidents of ICAI, once said “ICAI does not control the results. Nobody has the right to spoil the future of students”. ICAI had also repeatedly claimed that they do not manipulate the results. But this result has managed to raise some eyebrows. If there is some/any control being exercised by ICAI over the result percentage, then we request ICAI to please bring parity into the attempts, rather than making this exam, a “Draw of lots” for students. For the same level of efforts, one could easily clear the May attempt, while one would struggle to cross the line in November. . For any student, the parameter for comparison, is marks. However, when the difference in result percentage is so much (as explained above), marks of students appearing in different attempts are inappropriate to compare. . Share with your friends too ...
