if i pay rs 70000 to a contractor, who owns less than ten vehicles during the year and also furnish the pan....in that case whether tds is required to be deduct or not?
freight 70000 is for single bill...and payment is made in single installment...
please clarify this....

As per 194C, TDS should be deducted if the paym exceeds 30,000. You can also refer Section 194C(6) about declaration form along with PAN number.. PAN number itself is not considered as declaration form..

i said that he has less than ten vehicles...and it is declared by the contractor by giving declaration..then in that case no tds is required to be deduct.. according to me...as per provision...

If he provided declaration, then no need to deduct TDS irrespective of the amount paid to him..
