SAP means Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung. This is german for System analysis and program development.
The name was later changed into Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung: Systems, application and products in the data processing.

The company is specialized in large application supporting large corporations.

SAP is well known for its ERP solution R/3. The modularity of the product allows a certain fexibility in the implementation and use.

SAP is name of the Company which offers many ERP softwares. SAP R/3, SAP business suite are some of them. As Ramesh said "SAP is well known for its ERP solution R/3" that's why many people consider its ERP product SAP R/3 only SAP.

SAP is one of the many ERP packages available which integrates various financial & non-financial data and information to provide various reports which helps in meeting the financial reporting, plannning, control and decision making needs.

The few 'FUNCTIONAL' modules under SAP are : -

1) FI (Financial Module)

3) SD (Sales & Distribution)

4) HRM (Human Resources)

5) PP (Production Planning)

The name SAP is acronym for Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing. SAP is an extremely complicated system where no one individual can understand all of it.

SAP runs on a fourth generation programming language language called Advance Business Application Programming (ABAP). It have many of the features of other modern programming languages such as the familiar C, Visual Basic, and Power Builder. Your programs name conventions begins with a letter yxxx or zxxx.

SAP graphical user interfaces (SAPGUI) runs on Windows / NT / Unix / AS400. When you are using 3.x you can used the SAPGUI 4.x, there are no conflicts as the SAPGUI is basically a front end tools.

If you create dialog screen, remembers to tick Development Tools (utility programs for the Screen Painter) when you are installing SAPGUI 4.x.

In SAPGUI 4.x, you can configure whether to use the present 3.x screen design or the New 4.x Visual design (which is very graphical and computer resource hungry).

Disable the login image to reduce the memory usage. In transaction SM30, table SSM_CUST, create a new entries with Name HIDE_START_IMAGE and Value to be set YES.

SAP have move towards the Windows Explorer Screen Format (all the Menu on the left of your screen).

What Does SAP Stand for and What is SAP ERP? In the process of data processing SAP usually stands for Systems Applications and Products for data processing. Basically SAP is divided into various modules which include Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Production Planning (PP), Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), etc. The major function of SAP is not related with programming but it can be configured through its own programming language which is known as ABAP. SAP is the best and largest ERP software in the world. ERP (Enterprise resource planning) is a system of enterprise-wide information which is designed in such a way to coordinate all the information, resources and activities that is required to complete the processes of business like billing or fulfillment of order etc.

Yes, SAP is very useful for CA Student because there are many corporate groups using SAP Software. The reports generated by SAP is reliable at the time of Audit. There is no chance of error in its report. When you prepare Form No.501 for VAt Refund & Form No.704 for VAT Audit, you require the details. It is very easy to get details from SAP for that.
