What after ca ?

Dear All,

I need your advices and suggestions. Me just like everyone else dream about qualifying CA in 1st attempt. But what after CA ?? I never though about it. I had very vague plans for my future after CA. As I think about it now, I am really confused and lost.

1. I always had abroad plans. I wanna work in any overseas country (may be Australia, England or Singapore ?)
So what is the exact procudure to crack it ? ICAI has entered into an MoU with England and Australia, wherein, by qualifying their 2-3 papers, we can become a member in their accounting body. IS IT REALLY TRUE ?
Or should we have to start a new course all over accordingto their norms or whatever ?

2. Can a freshly qualified with no experience get a job in overseas ? Would they recruit one ? Here, they refers any country. Or should we HAVE TO HAVE experience to fly overseas ?

3. Other than the CA, I am a B Com graduate in a 'Not famous' university which is obviously wont be recognised in foriegn countries. Hence, can an only CA graduate work in overseas without any other qualification in the resume ? OR IS IT NECESARY TO DO AN MBA OR WHATEVER IN THE CHOSEN COUNTRY FOR MORE OPPORTUNITIES.

My choices are like i already mentioned, australia or singapore or england.

Kindly suggest me.

Help me outta this confusion.

Thanks in advance

Hi Sunni,

A very good question asked by you, 'WHAT AFTER BECOMING CA ?'

1.) Yes. A qualified CA. gets exemption of a few subjects of CPA (Certified Public Accountant) (a CA equivalent degree in Australia and some other      countries)

2.) Chances are very remote for fresher for getting job abroad, and even Most of Overseas Companies prefer experience of job in their own country (they do not consider experience having in India.)

3.) For better opportunies do MBA along with CA.

If you permanently want to relocate to Australia then do CPA after passing CA.

I don't have idea about Singapore and England.

Thanks,

CA. Devanand Jethanandani

As far as i know, a person cannot hold CA and CPA membership simultaneously but there are other insitutes like ICAEW which have entered into MOU with ICAI and certain relaxations are available with regards to subject clearance.

There is enough scope in India itself but if you are chasing you dream then i would suggest you to take up CA seriously now and work for a couple of years in India. Once you start working you also take up MBF, CFA or MBA and move ahead. This will also give you practical exposures, additional qualifications and also remove the Fresher badge as freshers aren`t preferred bascially and if preferrred you wont have get the actual work arena as you deserve. This could happen only when you are an exception in all manners.

This is my suggestion and basically i feel this would also be suggested by any rational professional.
