I have to take ur views on some of d issues i have come across in the Direct Tax subject. I am studying from Vipul Gupta Textbook. Pls give ur comments on d followin questions :

1) Do I have to read d whole module of Penalties. ( I mean am i suppose to byheart each penaly along with its section no.)  And also wat is d allotment in the dt paper for penalties.

2) Wat to do with d case Laws. Am i suppose to quote the case name or only the facts will suffice. Also it wud b gr8 if sum1 can give me imp case law file which can b usefl to me for my attempt.

3) Wat is apportion of marks (like chapter wise and Theory n practical wise.)

don' complex  things n don't selective in CA preparation....read all topics....emphasis more on important topics..........

p/g/b/p is imp n so also  MAT.....be thorough with wealth tax.....read latest case laws n some old cases too n quote only when u sure else write facts only......read all topics at least once direct tax is higly unpredictable..........

Hello Hakim,

PLease go through ALL  moduleS  atleast once.

Because in CA FINAL EXAMS  they can ask anything.

It is sufficinet if you qoute the name of the Case Law e.g.  Delhi Cloth and General Mills Co. Ltd ( SC ).You dont ahve to refer the facts ot that case, just mention the name and corelate it with the facts given in the qestion. This echnique is very well explained in the V.G.Sir's Notes.

Regarding marks allocation except for Wealth tax , nothing is fixed.

Take Care.

thx a lot guys.

But my problem is tht i m very weak in memorising nythin. Though i can memorise the sections but it is really tough for me to memorise the cases n also corelate dem wid d question. So wat to do in tht case. Also if sum1 can provide me imp case laws for nov 10, it wud be gr8 help...

hakim work hard hope for the the best....don't memorise things but understand things.....don't write case laws if u can not remember as it is not compulsory.....for nov 2010 don load case law from icai website bt that was sufficint for may 2010 for case laws up to remaining time take help of journal/newsltter of ICAI...

agree with Shinoj....not a good option to do selective studies in CA

Hi Hakim,

There are 4 books which I would recomand for D.T.. Out of these I like the Paduka most. This book is very good from exam point of view also don't go on Imp basis from last few exam's Institute is covering each & every chapter.

1) Paduka's

2) Vinod Gupta

3) Singhaniya

4) T.N. Manoharan

Above I have written the books according to my prefference means 1st Pref. to Paduka & 4th Pref. to Manoharan.

Vinod Gupta & Singhaniya both are very good books but it takes more time as compare to Paduka & T.N. Manoharan.

Also read the amendment summary of Vinod Gupta it is very good.

For Case laws Institute provides the Latest Case Laws Based Booklet I think that sufficient .

Also don't worry about memorising the things. Now Institute is asking for the application of sections in variouse practical situations and it is much practical oriented. Try to understand the practical application of various sections.

in ca final u need expert knowledge

so u have to read all sections also latest case laws

Do complete study ( especially for tax ).........It will helps u in your career too.........Never opt for selective study....Read all topics and then focus your attention on relevant sections, if u need.
