Dear Saket,
You are just 23 and not very 'old'. People give CA final exams 10-12 times and many even attain success after the 13th attempt. And everybody understands that CA is not that easy, so there is nothing to be ashamed of, if you fail. Just keep trying on. The current less demand of CA is due to the recession in the economy. The demand of CA will always be there and their pay scale too will increase, as the economy kickstarts.
However, if you feel that you will be able to earn more than a CA in your father's business, then you can join. But, degree always come handy in future, even if you are a son of a well-to-do businessman. Do you know that Kumarmangalam Birla is also a Chartered Accountant ?
The other option is to join your father's business. It will just make you feel that you are doing something and study as well. This will increase your self-esteem and after few years, you will even clear your CA Final !
There are certain dark phases of life, in which you often face failures. In such times, your self-esteem suffers to a great extent. But once that phase goes out, luck suddenly smiles again. Always remember that dark clouds never remain forever. After sometime, clouds will pass over and sun will spread it's rays everywhere ! The dualities of happiness (sukh) and misery (dukh) will always be there. But, I have seen from my experience that miseries never remain forever. Suddenly luck will smile at you and you never know that....
