13 May 2010Amount Paid to Dr.X who is professional Ra.5000 of which 1000 Rs. is of amount due from TPA so the Tds. is to be deducted on Rs.5000 or Rs. 4000 after deducting R.s1000 amt to be received from TPA?
Kindly reply if some is from hospital background with justified answers?

No need to deduct TDS as the amount of bill is not exceeding Rs. 20000.

Refer section 194J no need to deduct TDS payment is below ! 20000!

tds will be deducted when amt of professional fess is above 20000/- or 20000/-

hi everybody i know when the amount is less than 20000 TDS should not be deducted but i just took an example kindly consider the situation which i gave above by considering the amount exceeded tds limit

If the bill is consolidated for Rs. 5000 than deduct on full amount and if 1000 is separatly mentioned in invoice then deduct on 4000....
