As far as i know, Karta his always a male.After the death of the father, the father's brother (if exists) or his elder son (If the father has no brother) , wil be the karta of the HUF.

His wife cannot be the karta.

Yes, a female can become a karta, but only when the male members are minors or are not in a position to manage the affairs and give a declaration to that effect and seek the permission of the Department to allow the female to manage. Champa Kumari Singhi v Revenue.

on first view it looks in yur case tat there is no son of your so called karta, please understand, how can it b a HINDU UNDIVIDED FAMILY.

U may first correct the query or get clarification regarding incorporation of HUF.

HUF exists by law on son being born to couple. Now if son dies HUF would stillontinue if father is alive as there is possibility for adoption also.

Karta can only b a MAN as kajri said.

bt going behind that, if karta cease to exist and he does not have son or brother,then the HUF itself cease to exist.

No way,what so ever,a female can become Karta in any circumstances.

if i m not wrong, membership is valid only in case of birth in the family or marring with a girl in that family..so adoption is not allowed..

If there is no male members left in HUF, it automatically gets dissloved and the assets are distributed among the female members.

No female members can ever be karta of HUF. If a male member is minor, then his guardian (who can be female) can manage the HUF.

As far as assessment is concerned, all the left members will be assessed in their individual capacity.
