Using the new cancellation form on gst portal

Hi,

I noticed today that the cancellation form for newly registered taxpayers (GST-REG-16) is now active on the GST portal.

I have some queries about fillng up this form.

In "Date from which registration is to be cancelled", do I enter today's date? Or do I enter the date in October when the notification was made which made me exempt from paying GST?

I am filing GSTR1 before filing this return. Will I be able to file GSTR2 and GSTR3 after submitting the cancellation form?

Also, can someone explain the meaning of the "Details of Tax Paid" and "Tax Payable on Stock" sections?

Sir, enter today's date of you are applying for cancellation today.
Also you won't be able to GSTR2 as i think Cancellation will be effective immediately.

Details of previous taxes paid from July onwards and I am not sure why they would levy Tax on Stock for Cancellation of Registration.

Thank you so much, I have registered for quarterly GSTR1 returns. But GSTR2 returns are available only in monthly right now. So should I file monthly GSTR2 returns for now?

Do I need to file GSTR3 returns as well for previous year before filing cancellation?

you have to file gstr 1 only quaterly and 3b monthly ... no need to file gstr 2

and cancellation of new reg not available till you cant proceed on it shows error ...

new gst reg means - if you are not registered in old tax regime ( vat, cst,service tax)
migrated gst reg means - you are registered in last tax regime

Yes, I have a new registration, I was not registered in old regime, registered with GST in August, Cancellation option is available for me and it seems to work - I can see the form and the submit option.

But my question is that if I have to file all returns before submitting cancellation, then how do I file GSTR-3 for first and second quarter which is not available yet? And for GSTR 2 do I file monthly returns?

yes now form reg 16 available on portal who want to cancle his registration

this form is for
1-who are new in gst reg
2- who they are migrated but issue tax invoice in gst they fill this form

you have to slect date from which you want to cancle your reg

ex- if you want to cancle you reg today you have to fill todays date
or till march 18 you have to file only gstr 1 and 3b .. do not think about gstr 2 and 3
