06 September 2012does security charges form the part of rent to attract service tax?
If we are making payment for rent and security charges separately. eg. say Rs14000 PM for rent and Rs5000 as security expenses. does this transaction attracts TDS liability.

No security charges not comes under rent. If for security charges there is contract then deduct separately TDS u/s 194C.
Do not club 194C and 194I.

what ur mean by security charges. it is security guard charges or security money which is refundable.
If it is security Guard charges then TDS will be duducted @ 2% not 10%. and if it security money then no TDS.
and security guard charges will come under service tax even if chrged by landlord.

if not ...and its for guard (s) Charged by Landlord then Service tax will be attrected .
