For TAX..... its none other than SINGHANIA....
Every concept is explained in detail for this practical subject, and thats the punching point of this book... Moreover, u get sufficient practice, as well as the quality u want...

Opinion varies from person to person regarding reference book. DT by VK Singhania, Girish Ahuja, TN Manoharan, Vinod Gupta are all good books. It depends on student which language and explanation suits him /her. Feature of these books which I noticed.
VK Singhania - No doubt its very old and popular book among CA student but one should have enough time for this, atlease 10-12 months.
Girish Ahuja - Good for concepts as well as exam oriented as it has presented important points in box.
TN Manoharan - Its very exam oriented books and if you have only 3-4 months then better to opt this one.
Vinod Gupta's Module - Good for concepts as well as exam oriented.
G Sekar (Paduka) - If you like Q/A format then this one is good.
So its better you should have look at these books and select as per your choice.
