you are right......... Trinath........ but as per sec. 166, the AGM must be held every year,,, so can an AGM be held twice in a year, one of previous year and one in next year? ........

I agree with Ankur Sir that two AGm's can be held on a single day.Sir I also went through the second page of your note, which says that single notice is sufficient for the 2 AGM's. However Ramaiya Part 1says that
"There is no provision in the Act prohibiting the holding of two AGMs on the same day.If the AOA do not vontain any provision then AGM for the current year and also for the previous year can be held on teh same day. There should, however, be separate notices for each meeting and they should be held at different timings"
Sir please through some light on the matter.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Hi Priya,
Agree with your views.
Different timing of AGM is quite obvious. Regarding single notice of AGM I would prefer 2 separate notices. However you may dispatch both the notices in the single envelop.

I am not agree with all above answer....
As per my views, an AGM can be held once in a year only... because the general meaning of Annual General Meeting is that a meeting other than other meetings held once in a year within six months from the end of financial year.
But the company may held another general meeting during same day in business hours, but that another meeting shall be termed "Extraordinary General Meeting", not AGM...
I hope you all are getting my point....
