You are a newly qualified CA and did't get a job through campus placements ? Dont loose heart and be patient.
Please look at the below tips which may be of use :
1 Have the right attitude :First things first. There is no need to panic and be depressed as that will certainly not help. You need to continue being positive and be on the constant look out for any opportunities that may surface.Have belief in yourself and faith in god.Be patient and you will get your opportunity when the time comes. You need to persist in your quest for the right job..
2 Make use of the Job Portals :You probably have already registered with some good job sites. If you havent its time you do.Make sure that you constantly keep updating your profile. This will increase your chances of getting an interview call or at least being seen in the search results. Also do keep in mind that the more detailed information you give about yourself the better it is.
3 Upload your CV directly on career sections of prospective employers:Most of the good companies have a career section which allows you to create a profile and upload your CV with them. While it may be a time consuming exercise to create your profile on a large number of websites , you will be surprised with the effectiveness of this approach. Where do you think good companies start from when they look for a position to fill ? Yes you guessed it right. They first begin with the database from there own website as it could save them a hefty amount they may have paid to a job consultant. So its well worth the effort to do this exercise. One tip for time saving while adopting this method : Keep all your personal and professional details readily available in an excel or word file so that you can copy and paste from there as you will realise that most sites ask for similar information. You may also ask where to start from ? You could look at
a) banks, audit firms, software companies, FMCGs
b) Best employers of 2008-2011 in various surveys
c) Companies listed in BSE/NSE
d)Companies mentioned in the home page of naukri.com
4 Make use of placement consultants : If you are really desperate to get a good job quickly and don't have the time in hand to wait for the right call, you can contact some recruitment consultants who may be able to help you in case they have openings matching to your skills. The key here is to contact only the best job consultants who would be having a number of openings with good organisations. There is no sense of contacting just about any job consultant you may come across as this will only waste your time.So identify some of the best placement consultants and mail across your CV along with the kind of job you would prefer to do. Remember it does not matter where the consultant is based as good consultants normally have openings in various cities. The only thing is you would need to tell them if you have any particular location preference. How to find a list of best job consultants ? Well you could look at this link for starters : https://www.clickindia.com/detail.php?id=8222395
5 Start your own practice or business ! : Of course as CAs you have an option of starting your own practice. You would do well to get some exposure in a decent audit firm before venturing out on your own.Even if you do not want to go for practice you could start your own business. You will of course have to consider a lot of things like capital requirements, the right business, the right location, from where to get your customers, time required to break even etc.
Hope these tips would be helpful. Best of Luck.
