Dear All,
I have no doubts in my mind regarding the importance of Articleship in CA course. I think every article needs to understand the concept of articleship and analyse the need to introduce the system of articleship in Chartered Accountancy course.
Another important aspect of CA Articleship is the role played by articleship towards our future growth.
We must analyse the need to understand the purpose of articleship and accordingly decide our future course of action i.e. level of seriousness, mental involvement and commitment during your tenure as an article assistant.

Please find below few suggestions shared earlier also regarding CA Articleship. Hope these suggestions help you to understand the importance of articleship in CA Course as an article assistant.
1. First understand the concept of articleship and analyse the need to introduce the system of articleship in Chartered Accountancy course.
2. Calculate the necessity of articleship in your life keeping in view your future growth. This calculation is possible only if you follow point no. 1 honestly.
3. After doing UNC analysis [Understand + Need to introduced + Calculate] in accordance with point No. 1 and 2, decide your future course of action i.e. level of seriousness, mental involvement and commitment during your tenure as an article assistant.
4. Keep one “observation diary” with yourself. Note down all the important observations made during your articleship period.
5. As per my personal understanding some special observations, which can play the decisive role in shaping your career as Chartered Accountant, include the following:
i.)Overall attitude of your learned Principal and senior staff.
ii.)Approach of your principal towards clients.
iii.) Adoption of new amendments by your firms along with their successful implementation.
6. Try and interact more and more with your learned seniors. More interaction with your seniors and Principal will help you to gain confidence and improve your personality along with ability to deal with any kind of catastrophe situation.
7. Give more importance to your career as a successful Chartered Accountant along with continued future growth instead of your personal ego or office politics.
8. Keep yourself updated with latest amendments. If you follow this suggestion honestly then am sure that this point will surely reflect your strong attitude towards professionalism and your desire to a part of prestigious ICAI.
9. The best method to win the confidence of your Principal and other learned seniors is to work very hard with utmost sincerity and dedication. Always follow your ethics and maintain the hard work.
10. Always remember articleship is a great and once in a life time opportunity keeping in view your future growth and enhancement of your knowledge and other professional skills. So make full use of this great opportunity.
11. Let me tell you one of my experience cum source of my tiny knowledge -Five years back my first boss told me this renowned saying “I learnt because I wanted my boss to teach me” and believe me friends rest is a history. I hope you got the message.
12. Stay away from any kind of office politics and do not engage yourself in useless activities like gossiping etc. as this would be seriously considered as waste of your and firm’s precious time. Always remember time is money.
13. Try, understand and observe the true meaning of -- Discipline in your work + corporate etiquette + positive approach and adopt this meaning to convert yourself in to a super human being and a true professional.
14. Always remember you guys are future professionals so there is no need to take the things personally and follow the policy of “just move with the flow”. Dil pa mat la yaar…
15. Always prefer and maintain good, healthy and long lasting relations with everyone i.e. with your Principal, client or fellow professional. This is one of the essential pre-condition to be a successful professional.
16. Try, improve and workout on your communication skills, dressing sense and ability to learn things quickly. Kindly consider all these things very important in order to make yourself adaptable with corporate environment.
It’s high time for each one of us to understand the important of Articleship and the same is also applicable to all the CA principles providing articleship tranining.
It is very important for every principle to treat his/her article in a proper manner and should utilize the skills for the benefit of student/article.

Thanks Chintan...I'll definitely join the community.
However i am trying my best to share my experience here in the forum through answering some queries and in article section by posting articles.
The moment you become a CA, expectations from the clients would be high and you are expected to know everything. So, articleship should be considered as a boon in one way that all CA students can practically gain that level of knowledge during the articleship period (where making mistakes are considered as a process of learning).

I dont know why anukar sir asked me comment on this personally...
but i say this is what i did at my articleship.
on the day i went to enquire for articleship my boss told me one thing not to expect good pay and promised only the amount that is compulsory to be paid. i agreed gladly as i did not know much of the outside pay scale etc and largely because i wasnt knowing about caclubindia as well.
but none the less i vowed that day to take up as much as work i can and learn whatever i had at this office. even if i am doing the thing for the second time i did it improve my speed
I agree with almost all the things specified here....

Dear Ankur Sir. it is a well known fact that you share a lot of knowledge to all the members to CA Club India & hats off to you for that. I believe that by sharing knowledge one can increase their own knowledge & prosperity. On seeing your dedication towards the members of CA Club India my belief gets more stronger!!!

Same here praveen. Let me tell you my exp. for the first 7.5 months out of my 15 month CS training i haven't got a single penny. But i worked really hard with true commitmet. Now am receving the price on a daily basis.

Further you are right chintan. Here in caclubindia am learning on a daily basis. Having knowledge and sharing with others are two different thing. CAClubindia gave me the confidence that i can solve anyones query. You know application of knowledge is totally different thing.

But Sir in My City All C.A firm are intersting to appoint only Girl candidate. I Donot Know why . When i go to any C.A office I See that mostly articles are Girl. They are not interesting to appoint Boys Candidate. Even In our branch secretory office there is 9 girls candidate and only 1 boys candidate. I ask him why there is not boys articles he said that i donot keep boys articles because they do not work properly. I always prefer in my office girls articles...

Dear Ajay,
I have no idea why this kind of discrimination between boys and girls? But this is true. Further the excuse that boys article do not work properly is something unbelievable.
Equal opportunity should be given to everyone.

This is what the proper line is. I m an article who repects the need of articleship. I have my freind who goes to office just to deposits bills of his firm or personal works of CA or other petty works like courier, delivery of envelope etc.
My case is not much better than him except that we r not required to do personal works of CA.
Then in such environment Do U think even students would like to do articleship. Although I agree with all you said but the ground realities are different. We have joined a professinal course. but if we are not getting professional work at Offfices then what is the need of that articleship. Have we joined course to know how to get a drop a bill in billbox or how to get a railway ticket or carry files behind our priciple just to stay outside the room of AO. What kind of development is this.
