Unclaimed tds of previous years

Mr. A is filing the Income Tax Return for AY 2017-18. He has never filed the Income Tax Returns before.

Is it ppossible for him to Claim the TDS which was deducted for Past Years , since it were unclaimed ?

Not in present year.

But one can file return of previous year and claim that TDS in that particular year.

Sir in the Income Tax Utility Form there is drop Down arrow in which we can slect the Past Assessment Year.

Is it not possible to claim the unclaimed TDS in that manner ?

No. It is possible, only if you had filed return of earlier year, and carried forward the amount!!

Hello Sir

We had filed the Manual ROI for A.Y. 2009-2010 but forgot to claim/mention the TDS in that ROI. Hence , the demand was raised for that year and from last years , refund is being adjusted against that pending demands.

Hence , I kindly request you to suggest how can we claim the TDS of that years as Rectification can't be filed for that years .

Dear, As such there is no way. Rectification could have been filed within 4 year from the date of assessment order...... So, check the date of assessment order and if time allowed, file rectification.
