21 March 2014The challan for payment of school fees in the fee book of a student in class V of a reputed school at south Kolkata shows the following
annual charges
audio visual aid
computer fee
development fee
examination, stationery, power fee
library fee
maintenance fee
tuition fee
magazine fee
text books
asset test fee
ID card
house badge
Please comment if these qualify for section 80C deduction. It is clear that development fee is not to be considered.

ACCORDING TO ME ONLY TUTION FEES IS TO BE CONSIDERED BUT I AM NOT SURE

That means if school A shows tuition fee Rs 2000 it will be allowed ; whereas school B giving break up as tuition fees 1400, computer fee 200, library fee 200 and magazine fee 200 will be entitled to deduction of only 1400. ?
Is it not a bit strange.
